  • One of the most promising ways to recycle tires is by turning them into ground rubber “crumbs” and adding them to asphalt for paving -- this increases pavement life by 4 to 5 years.
  • Recycled rubber is also used in boat bumpers, carpet padding, and wire and pipe insulation.
  • An estimated 275 million scrap tires are currently stockpiled in the U.S.A.
  • By chipping tires and recovering the steel wire, up to 99 percent of the average passenger car tire can now be captured for recycling.
  • Many states offer grants to companies in the tire recycling industry.
  • Markets now exist for about 80 percent of scrap tires -- up from 17 percent in 1990.
  • Shredded tires produce the same amount of energy as oil and 25% more energy than coal.

Tire Recycling Made Easy

According to the EPA, there are at least 275 million scrap tires in stockpiles in the United States. These stockpiles present many environmental, health, and safety hazards and represent a serious public nuisance.  Stockpiles of tires provide good living conditions for mosquitoes that can spread diseases such as Encephalitis and West Nile Virus and they provide breeding grounds for rats, snakes, and ticks.  Waste tires also present a significant fire hazard when they are improperly stored -- these fires can burn for weeks, causing the rubber to decompose into oil, which may pollute ground and surface water.

At this time, there is a lot of interest in using recycled tires for sports surfaces, playground surfaces, athletic tracks, ballistics applications, horse arenas, safety barriers, and other building and landscaping projects. Not only does it have an environmental impact, but tire recycling could be the business you’ve been looking for.

Tri-C Manufacturing has spent years perfecting a high speed industrial shredder.  The result has been a shredder that is guaranteed capable of shredding at least 20 tons of tires an hour of primary shreds, year after year.  The equipment has been so reliable that one of our shredders is still shredding over 20 tons of tires an hour, that’s after already having shred over 9,000,000 tires.  The shredders are capable of being configured for virtually any size shred, and with the optional granule mill, reductions to TDP quality material is made quick and easy.
